Spanish Sun

Peter in Fuerteventura.

Never felt so liberating to feel the warmth of the Spanish Sun and enjoy azure blue skies and seas after such a dismal winter! Road bikes were in short supply so I acquired a Fuji Roubaix performance hybrid bike for the week to maintain fitness. Despite many local cycleways being under construction there was an abundance of stunningly scenic, segregated routes including one which rose high up into a barren plateau that wouldn't have looked out of place in the Sahara desert before descending down a valley towards the beautiful cove of Pozo De Negro with fine black volcanic sand. There were some long, winding, gruelling climbs and horrendous headwinds to be endured but was blown away by the high-quality, super-smooth surfaces and there were no potholes in sight - and felt totally safe as Spaniards are generally much more courteous and considerate towards cyclists than back home! Of course Jet2 excelled themselves as always! ✈ 🇪🇸 ☀🌴 🏖🍹 🚲
