Saturday Club rides are starting. On 28th September three of us met at the Eureka cafe for a 9am start. New member Toby Port and prospective member Dave Norman, neither of whom I had ridden with previously. In view of this we agreed on a flattish route and to get Toby back for 11 am. The aim was to gain confidence in riding as a group and get to know everyone's cycling abilities. At Stoak, Toby took over the lead and increased the pace. From then on each took turns leading and the pace was gradually increased such that it developed into a more challenging ride by the finish. The lanes were fairly quiet and hedge trimming has not started yet! We managed to steer clear of all the showers and enjoyed a really good workout.
We each had different starting and finishing points. I covered 52 miles (1438 feet ascent) which would have made a Eureka round trip equivalent of about 32 miles.
